Originally I had this defeatist take on wedding planning. "I could
never afford that" or "I will never be able to do it the way I want
fully" or "Oh this will never go over with the famdamily". I had the
idea to have a hand-me-down tea party at the cheapest outdoor venue I
could find to keep it simple and "weddingy". However in the back of my
head I knew I wanted more. The Sasquatch was mildly responsive to
wedding ideas with his yes darling whatever you desire. I wanted him to
be as excited as I was. I had jumped in and asked the owner of
Azrael's Accomplice to make my gown and she said YES! So maybe I should
just go see if I might also get my dream venue and pull off something
more than just simple "weddingy"
So, just a few e-mails back and forth with the proprietor of a crazy
fun venue I had actually seen here on offbeatbride.com I was off to
visit with him in his quixotic world. I sent the link to the venue to
my Sasquatch not knowing what he would think. He went from “yes dear
whatever you want dear, shut up about the wedding dear” to “Holy Crap we
could do this and I could wear this and we could play this music” etc.
Yes! Score the man likes the venue just looking at the pictures
online.
I walked through the doors and fell instantly in love with the vibe
and energy of the place, not to mention the colors! Plus it didn’t hurt
that a man in a top hat walked up to me and introduced himself.
“Hello, I’m Column, The Butler” he says. Swoon, there’s a butler! We
were given the grand tour ending in the “green room” which is actually
purple and awesome. Yes Yes this is where I want to get married and
party and have fun and share the beginning of my new life with my
friends and loved ones. Oh and a few strangers as well – but I will get
into that in a minute. It was perfect and I told Eric the proprietor
of some of our ideas and he loved them and said we could make it all
work and that he would get us a quote ASAP.
Yes, the venue will be a little more than originally planned but it
will be worth it. After deciding the where I decided lets see if we can
take this one step farther. I spoke with a friend of mine who produces
and performs in burlesque shows in the area. Just to run the idea by
her and see if I was totally crazy. Needless to say either I am sane or
she is as crazy as me!! The after party is going to have a steampunk
dark circus theme. I am so excited that as I talk to some of my more
talented friends they are stoked by the ideas in my head and are going
to help me bring them to life! Let's just say Burlesque meets Steampunk
meets Circus meets Epicness!
There are many details to still be worked out and plans to be made but get ready Dallas – Something Wedding This Way Comes!!!!
